I am not a spendthrift exactly but I love buying clothes - Polo Tees and nice long earrings which drive me crazy. I just cannot say NO to these two. These two people who are very close relatives are mine believe in a lot of money management even with respect to digital camera pictures I guess which is funny...! $15 for going around a place and they feel its expensive ?! You probably would think that, its up to the person if he/she needs to spend or not.. but I can tell you that I was in their place, I would and I have done it for someone who is not an immediate relative while I was on a trip to California ! They made me take pictures for them but I was in just one picture that was shot in the duration of about 45 minutes.
I was almost at the verge of shedding a tear but I kept telling myself "Kavitha.. You know you are so much better.. Do not weep for something you know is a petty issue.. That only makes you weak". I kept thinking that when I get married, have babies and if I and my husband took someone out with us, I would ensure that the person who is visiting us does not feel left out and thinks "WHY THE HECK AM I WITH THESE FUCKING FOLKS".. Excuse my expression but that's how I was feeling...
I am probably so much better than you two! :) I am Happy! I have learnt something that you two have not learnt.
Other funny thing. In India it is common to say.. "Oh, I can make out" instead of "Oh, I can figure out". Agreed MAKE OUT has a different meaning in the United States. The guy once corrected me over the phone for saying "I can MAKE OUT" and told me.. "YOU DO NOT SAY THAT".. and today almost after a year and half, his wife said the same thing and he was probably dumbfounded.. Why did you not correct her, if you go around correcting people with the way they talk ?
